WHAT HAS CHANGED IN AGED CARE SINCE THIS 7.30 REPORT SEGMENT WENT TO AIR IN 2006 - OVER FOUR YEARS AGO?

PRIME MINISTER RUDD, MINISTER ROXON, MINISTER ELLIOT, PREMIER ANNA BLIGH AND MINISTER PAUL LUCAS: WHAT HAS CHANGED IN AGED CARE?

SING SUGGESTS THAT NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN AGED CARE:

PUBLIC INTEREST WHISTLEBLOWERS ARE STILL BEING TARGETED, VILIFIED, BULLIED, INTIMIDATED AND SACKED WHEN THEY DISCLOSE WRONGDOING IN AGED CARE FACILITIES. PROTECTION OF PUBLIC INTEREST WHISTLEBLOWERS IS A JOKE AND NOT WORTH THE PAPER ON WHICH IT IS WRITTEN.

GORDON NUTTALL (FORMER MINISTER FOR HEALTH, QUEENSLAND HEALTH) FOUND EVIDENCE PRESENTED TO HIM TO BE UNSUPPORTED AND UNSUBSTANTIATED IN MANY EVENTIDE NURSING HOME, SANDGATE AGED CARE ABUSE/ASSAULT CASES. HE IS NOW SERVING A SENTENCE IN PRISON FOR CORRUPTION.

SING IS UNAWARE OF THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE PREVIOUS FEDERAL MINISTER, SANTO SANTORO, MENTIONED IN THIS REPORT.

THE REGISTERED NURSE MENTIONED IN THIS 7.30 REPORT SEGMENT WAS DISMISSED, MANY MONTHS LATER BY QUEENSLAND HEALTH ON MENTAL HEALTH GROUNDS. THE PUBLIC INTEREST WHISTLEBLOWER WAS TARGETED BY QUEENSLAND HEALTH EVEN AFTER THE REGISTERED NURSE WAS FOUND TO BE MENTALLY ILL. SEE (1n) ON RIGHT OF WEBSITE. A RELATIVE OF ONE OF THE VICTIMS INFORMED QUEENSLAND HEALTH'S DISTRICT MANAGER IN SEPTEMBER 2004 THAT HER MOTHER WAS BEING ABUSED BY STAFF. THE ADVANCED ASSISTANT IN NURSING IN THIS CASE WAS "GRACEFULLY RETIRED" BY QUEENSLAND HEALTH, MANY MONTHS LATER. PLEASE SEE POST THURSDAY 11 MARCH 2010.

ABUSE, ASSAULT AND NEGLECT OF ELDERLY RESIDENTS WAS REPORTED BY THE PUBLIC INTEREST WHISTLEBLOWER AND INFORMANTS TO EVENTIDE MANAGEMENT, QUEENSLAND HEALTH, THE AGED CARE COMPLAINTS INVESTIGATION SCHEME, THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND AGEING, THE CRIME AND MISCONDUCT COMMISSSION AND WAS EITHER IGNORED OR COVERED-UP.

ABUSERS STILL REMAIN EMPLOYED AT EVENTIDE NURSING HOME, BRIGHTON (SANDGATE), BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND. WITNESSES TO ABUSE/ASSAULT REMAIN EMPLOYED AT EVENTIDE AND HAVE NEVER BEEN INTERVIEWED.
WITNESSES TO ABUSE/ASSAULT REMAIN EMPLOYED AT EVENTIDE AND HAVE NEVER SPOKEN OUT.
THOSE WHO SPEAK OUT AND FULFILL THEIR OBLIGATION UNDER THE AGED CARE ACT, HAVE BECOME THE VICTIMS OF BUREAUCRATS GONE MAD.

SING SUGGESTS THAT THE REAL REASON PUBLIC INTEREST WHISTLEBLOWERS OR INFORMANTS ARE TREATED SO BADLY IS THAT IT IS MUCH MORE EXPEDIENT - FOR THOSE IN POWER TO "SHOOT THE MESSENGER" - THAN IT IS TO DEAL WITH THE DIFFICULT ISSUES.

SING HAS BEEN GIVEN PERMISSION FROM ABC'S 7.30 REPORT TO POST THIS SEGMENT FROM THE 15 MARCH 2006. REPORTER: MATT PEACOCK.
This letter was written soon after the 7.30 Report segment went to air.
The Public Interest Whistleblower had her employment terminated by Queensland Health on the 25 February 2009 after bringing other serious sexual abuse matters to the attention of the general public.

Please see: Reports and comments by The Daily Telegraph on right of website.

SING ASKS THE GENERAL PUBLIC:

IF THIS TYPE OF IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE CAN BE GATHERED BY A NEWSPAPER REPORTER WORKING UNDERCOVER; WHY ARE THERE NO UNDERCOVER NURSING STAFF EMPLOYED TO EXPOSE THE INCREASING ABUSE AND ASSAULT OF OUR ELDERLY AND DISABLED CITIZENS RESIDING IN NURSING HOMES?

SING SUGGESTS THAT PERHAPS OUR AGED CARE AUTHORITIES WOULD NOT LIKE THE DAMNING EVIDENCE THAT WOULD BE EXPOSED IF THIS SIMPLE ACTION WAS IMPLEMENTED.

SING SUGGESTS THIS MESSAGE IS LOUD AND CLEAR TO WHISTLEBLOWERS OR INFORMANTS CONTEMPLATING SPEAKING OUT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST: DO SO AT YOUR PERIL.

SING SUGGESTS THAT UNTIL THIS CULTURE OF FEAR FOR THOSE EXPOSING WRONGDOING IS ERADICATED FROM THE AGED CARE REPORTING SYSTEM. ABUSE/ASSAULT AND NEGLECT WILL CONTINUE TO FLOURISH IN OUR PUBLIC OR PRIVATE NURSING HOMES.

  1. In response to the 730 report:
I am a good friend of the person that wrote the exit letter, I agree with her letter. I am still employed at eventide so the reporting to the management doesn't work, you become the victim then go home feeling sick. Nothing has changed in the last 4 years. People like you spoke out and lost your job and the abuser are still there. It is a very good report how can people not see the truth and why doesn't the staff support this site. Seems like they have been silenced by the management.

  2. Karen, it is the managers who do not address this issue, they are accountable.
Death in a nursing home is a relief to many who suffer at the hands of psychopaths who are known to management and who are not managed.
As for the Investigation team - their reports are subjective not objective. Depends who is mates with whom. Money speaks many langauges.
I work for a manager who is so cock sure of herself because of her attitude and her connections with DOHA - it is frightening.
So long as the paperwork is there, the department bodies do not want to look futher.
It is the wording and the interpretation of the wording when it comes to outcome breaches.
I beleive that it should be mandatory for a manager to have camers in areas wher e abuse has been reported. The camera does notlie whereas staff and managers can and do.
See you at the conference in July. I cannot wait to hear your presention.

  3. CTV in managers offices. The media would have a field day. Bunch of bullies. Don't know how they sleep at night?
